Yatra Foundation > Sponsored Children
Sponsored Children
Yatra Foundation is sponsoring several children and young adults to attend a local school for further education.
All these children come from very low income families. By enabling their continued education we are hopeful that the crushing cycle of poverty might be broken and these children and subsequent generations can enjoy an improved standard of living.
We are currently sponsoring children in Vellore (Tamil Nadu), Kota (Rajasthan), Jaipur (Rajasthan).
In Vellore we are supporting sisters Nithya, (aged 17, Year 12) and Priya, (aged 15 Year 10) both wanting to continue their studies beyond school into nursing. Both Nithya and Priya have been sponsored for most of their schooling to attend a private school in Vellore and have achieved excellent results. Their mother works as a servant on minimum wages, and she is a single mother. She would have struggled to provide her daughters with an education beyond primary school age without assistance.

We are subsidising the school fees for two other sisters, Deepa (aged 14, Year 9) and Deepika (aged 13, Year 8) both residents in Vellore.
In the coming school year we will be supporting three boys, Arumugam (aged 10), Vijayan (aged 8) and Santhosh (aged 6). Their family income is less than 800 Rupees per month (approximately AUD$20).
In Kota, we sponsor Priya and Ankur to complete their tertiary studies in Bachelor of Commerce, and four other children to attend the Sunshine Academy Private Junior School. Their names are, Dev, Hitesh, Aman , and Prerna.
In Jaipur, we are sponsoring two students in their tertiary studies. Both are from families with low incomes who could not otherwise support these young men to achieve their dreams.

Teacher Subsidy
Yatra Foundation are subsiding the teachers wages at the Sunshine Academy, Kota, to enable long-term retention of high quality teachers. We hope to maintain strong links with the Sunshine Academy for teaching and curriculum support especially in the early stages of the Yatra School. |
